Our Mission

At Pocket Watch & Petticoats, we believe every woman deserves to feel beautiful, confident and completely herself.

Our mission is to create timeless vintage-inspired clothing that celebrates individuality, flatters every body shape, and brings joy to everyday life. Whether you’re dressing for a special occasion, dancing the night away at a festival, or simply adding a little glamour to your daily routine, we want every piece to make you stand a little taller and smile a little brighter.

Fashion should never be about fitting in. It should be about expressing who you are.

That’s why every collection is thoughtfully designed with comfort, quality and attention to detail at its heart. From practical pockets and flattering silhouettes to exclusive prints and carefully chosen fabrics, we create clothing that is made to be loved, worn and treasured for years to come.

We proudly design for women of all ages, shapes and sizes because confidence isn’t defined by a number. With sizes 4–26 and a commitment to inclusivity, we want every customer to feel welcomed, celebrated and seen.

As an independent British brand, community means everything to us. Every order supports a small business built on passion, creativity and genuine care for our customers. Many of our designs are inspired by nostalgia, nature, music and vintage glamour, but above all they are inspired by the incredible women who wear them.

Pocket Watch & Petticoats ~ Love in Every Stitch.

Our Story

Pocket Watch and Petticoats started in April 2015. Originally selling out of Sophia’s bedroom, ‘Dress Destiny’ stepped in after a lunch date with her mum. Whilst sipping out of a bone China tea cup and listening to Glenn Miller on the wireless, Sophia remembers saying to her mumma, ‘imagine if this time next year I had my own shop’. Well, it didn’t take a year, in fact, that very afternoon, they stumbled across an empty unit just after that now famous exchange over a scone whilst daydreaming. Within a week ‘Pocket Watch & Petticoats’ was born! The mayor of Ipswich opened the shop, a Vintage Ladies Flash Mob was arranged and the rest is History. She met her now husband Adrian 6 months later and within 6 months, their second store was opened in Bury St Edmunds.

Now, nearly 9 years later there has been 2 new shops, a new baby boutique business, a Pandemic, a relocation, a wedding, designing their own label in clothing and shoes as well as 2 babies. They are taking over the High Streets of the World, one petticoat at a time!

It hasn’t been plain sailing however, the economic climate, COVID, Brexit and Global influences meant the high street has been brought to its knees. They had to take the very upsetting and difficult decision to close their Ipswich Store as well as their baby boutique. Sophia was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in January 2023 and immediate surgery and chemotherapy was needed to regain optimum health. It was whilst in the throes of chemo and post cancer treatment that she decided to start her own clothing label to design items that she knew ladies would love. It was here her tagline ‘In the midst of a storm, beauty was born’ came to life and after viewing her amazing creations on here, we hope you can agree!
